Share Your Testimony

Are you a former Catholic who God has saved and delivered out of darkness into the glorious light of Jesus Christ?

If so and you would like to share the story of what the Lord has done in your life please send us your testimony and we'll add it to our growing list of testimonies of God's grace for others to read.

Suggestions for writing your testimony:

Use the guidelines from Acts 26 where the Apostle Paul gave his testimony to King Agrippa.

1. GRACIOUS INTRODUCTION—Acts 26:2, 3. Paul referred to Agrippa's knowledge of Jewish customs. Find a point of common interest or identification. When sharing with both former and current Catholics, note your involvement within Roman Catholicism.

2. GOOD PART OF PAST LIFE—Acts 26:4, 5. If you just say what a sinner you were, people won't identify themselves with you. Paul told how he was looked up to for his religious practices. Mention briefly the extent of your morality, church attendance, ideas about God, generosity, as you lead to the third point.

3. BAD PART OF PAST LIFE—Acts 26:9-11. "Even though people thought that I was so good, I knew what went on inside." Mention some specific things such as hateful thoughts, covetousness, emptiness of heart, pride, etc. Perhaps you feared that you would not go to heaven. Many will identify with you in this, for they are not sure.

4. CIRCUMSTANCES OF CONVERSION—Acts 26:12-15. Do not feel your own story is colorless, your conversion is as much a miracle as Paul's. Use details which show the personal transaction with God, and avoid confusing statements. Not: "I went forward at church" lest your listener thinks going forward is the answer. But: "When the minister asked if any had not received Christ personally, I knew I had not and that this was the time I must repent and trust Him alone." If you do not know the exact time you were saved, you could say: "The time came when I realized what I was doing was not enough, but that Jesus' death on the cross provided my salvation." We know the sun rises at an exact moment, but we may not have seen it right then. Yet we know it is there because we see it in the sky.

5. RESULTS OF CONVERSION—Acts 26:19-22. Mention the most striking change in your life, as Paul did —whether in desires, fruit of the Spirit, hunger for God's Word, peace, or love for other Christians. Show the effects/spiritual fruit of your being born-again. This is important because Catholics believe they must do these things to be saved yet it's only as a result of being saved that one has the ability and heart to do such things.

6. GOSPEL MESSAGE—Acts 26:23. Weave into your story Christ's death for our sins and his resurrection. This is the message with power. You may prefer to include this in the fourth point if it seems to fit better.

7. PERSONAL APPEAL—Acts 26:27-29. Directly ask the listener a question relating to them. example: "Bob, have you ever thought of Christ in this personal way?" "If you died today, would you go to heaven?" or, "Does what I have said bring any questions to your mind?" Since this is not a personal conversation, you can ask the reader in a general sense something along those lines. If you wish, you can attach your email at the end of your testimony and invite people to contact you about your conversion.
